Friends,

I wanted to take a minute to recognize Amy Stephenson’s success. She has lost over 30 lbs since October and continues to make progress daily.

Here are the secrets to Amy’s successful transformation:

1. Weight Training — Amy trains with me twice a week using weights, bands, medicine balls, and machines. This has helped reshape her body and boost her metabolism.

2. Regular Cardio– Amy performs cardio (bike, jogging, walking, etc.) up to 5-6 times a week from 30-45 minutes. Consistency is important!

3. Proper Supplements– A key to jump starting Amy’s metabolism has been her use of Advocare’s weight loss aids. Some of her favorites are Slim, MNS Max Energy, and Thermoplus. If her body starts adapting to a certain product, she will cycle off it and use a different one to continually make gains. Click here get what she takes

The MNS supplements are really HOT right now, come by Hyde Park Gym and pick up a free sample from me while supplies last

4. Healthy Diet– Amy uses a food log to keep track of what she eats, and we go over it together. This helps her learn proper nutrition and provides accountability.

Be sure to congratulate Amy–she’s doing a fantastic job!!

Be Excellent to One Another,

Friends,

Do you practice appreciation?

I recently read the book “Ask and It is Given” by Ester and Jerry
Hicks.

In the book, it says that the practicing of appreciation literally
raises your vibration and helps you feel the best emotions possible.

You see, when you are in appreciation, you aren’t placing negative
judgments and labels on life, but rather you are in a very positive,
and grateful space.

Appreciation can help raise your self esteem, which will assist you
in obtaining your fitness goals, as well as your life ambitions.

Exercise:

Every morning upon awakening, by yourself or with a friend/loved one, name out loud the things you appreciate and are grateful for, and really dig deep and focus on the feeling of appreciation.

Do this for as long as you are inspired. This could be 2-10 minutes.

For example, my morning appreciation sounds something like this:

“I appreciate being alive and being healthy. I appreciate my family and loved ones. I appreciate my clients and the people I can help make difference in their lives. I appreciate having a roof over my head, and food in the pantry…(and so on)”

Its INCREDIBLY easy to take things for granted, so appreciation is an incredible tool to see how blessed you really are, and simultaneous improve your mood.

Try the morning routine for 3 weeks — I guarantee you’ll find yourself feeling happier all the time!

Show some appreciation this week,

Trainer Trent

I went home this past weekend to visit my family is the good ol’ country town of Buffalo, Texas.

On the way home, I found myself feeling fantastic–I was relaxed, happy, and just had an overall sense of well being.

I asked myself, “Why am I feeling extra good?”

Then it dawned on me: HUGS.

I had received an unusually high number of hugs on this visit and it had left me feeling great.

So for your amusement, here are 5 benefits of hugs:

1. Lowered heart rate

2. Release of dopamine (good feeling chemicals in the brain)

3. Improved mood

4. Increased feelings of bonding

5. Countless benefits for babies

So share some love this week — give some hugs!!!

Trainer Trent

Friends,

How’s life? Things are good on this end–I just got back from a weekend trip to South Padre Island to recharge my batteries. It was definitely over due!

Here’s my before and after as promised. I am most proud of the fact that I’ve been able to maintain my results. A common myth a lot of people have is that they will regain their weight or lose their results. While it can happen if you go back to your old habits, you should know that it is much easier to maintain a physique than to change your body.

<img data-attachment-id='269' data-orig-size='1299,2283' data-liked='0'width="85" height="150" src="http://austinbootcamp.files.wordpress.com/2009/10/beforecrop.jpg?w=85&h=150" class="attachment-thumbnail" alt="Before" title="beforecrop" />
<img data-attachment-id='270' data-orig-size='415,500' data-liked='0'width="124" height="150" src="http://austinbootcamp.files.wordpress.com/2009/10/test1.jpg?w=124&h=150" class="attachment-thumbnail" alt="After" title="test1" />

What is this mysterious Alchemy Program??

In other news, I’m excited to announce a new program that I’ve been working on for the past month. I’m calling it the Alchemy Program. It was inspired by the book ‘The Alchemist’ by Paulo Coelho. It is quite possibly the best book I’ve ever read. So if you haven’t picked it up yet, stop everything you are doing and read it!!

But I digress…Alchemy in ancient times was concerned with the idea of transmutation–that is, transforming lead into gold. I believe that people can do the same thing and radically change their lives in a way that is consistent with their goals, dreams, and aspirations. You can turn yourself into ‘gold’!!

The Alchemy Program is the next level in personal development in that it combines my years of experience in personal training with current popular cutting edge mental coaching modalities such as: Law of Attraction, belief management, visualization, Chinese medicine, and more.

The exciting news is that clients currently participating in the program are experiencing eye-opening results not only in weight loss and fitness, but are also attracting more money and job opportunities, cultivating better relationships, getting rid of bad habits, and more!

This may surprise you, but change actually happens on the inside out. The most successful personal training clients are the ones who make an internal decision to get results, then seek guidance from people like me to create for them a road map to their desired destination. The Alchemy Program is the next step in personal training as well, since it covers the inner game aspect that no other program EVER has!

I’ve just updated my offerings to reflect the new program, and encourage you to try The Alchemy Program while there is still availability. This program is HOT–clients are rapidly referring their friends since they are getting out-of-this-world results! Why not turn your life into gold?

Go here now to apply: The Alchemy Program

Stay tuned–over the next few weeks we’ll be launching new information and specials related to The Alchemy Program.

Hey Gang,

Do you always feel like you are going 100 mph and don’t have time to fix meals?

Would it come in handy to have some quick meals that are fast, but will also keep you thin?

Thought it might be valuable….

Here are 5 of my quick minimal prep meals:

1. Fat Free Cottage Cheese and Strawberries

I know I know…you probably don’t like the texture of cottage cheese or don’t eat it regularly. Do me a favor, and slice up 3 ripe, delicious strawberries and mix them with a cup of cottage cheese. It is very tasty!

2. Tuna and an Apple

Here’s another favorite of mine. The tuna packet is quick and easy, and the apple is a sweet way to balance out the meal. FYI, Starkist also makes ‘Tuna Creations’ where they flavor the tuna. If you aren’t a big fan of the taste, those packets are a great way to acquire a taste for tuna. I recommend the ‘garlic and herb’ variety…just be sure to brush your teeth after-wards, especially if you have a date with me

3. Boiled Egg whites and an Orange

If you boil the eggs the night before, this can dramatically speed up this combo. If you like egg yolks, you can eat 1 for flavor, but discard the others.

4. Celery and Natural Peanut Butter

You probably remember this one from grade school. If you want to be ‘cute’ you can add raisins to it and pretend they are ants. Also, be sure to use NATURAL peanut butter. This is the type with oil separation.

As you can see, most of these meals are simple–they combine two healthy foods with out a lot of extras. The more processed something is, typically the worse it is for you. So try these out and let me know how they work for you.

Remember to always be grateful,

Trainer Trent

Hey gang,

I have clients asking me ALL THE TIME about whether or not lifting weight adds bulks. This is a BIG TIME concern for the majority of women I work with–

Here are 3 ways to make sure you aren’t putting on pounds with the weights, but instead toning, firming and leaning out your body

1. Keep a Food Journal – Working out can make you hungry, and sometimes people will eat extra calories with their new training program. So the extra calories put on the bulk — not the weight lifting. The key is to keep track of your diet and curb your appetite by drinking extra water if necessary.

2. Realize its in Your Head – In many cases, your fear is imagined. Dont’ worry, its more common than you think. Sadly, many people struggle with issues like anorexia or body dismorphic disorder. They don’t see the real reflection in the mirror, but instead an imagined image of themselves. The solution? Be real with yourself, seek counseling and/or ask a trusted friend for their honest opinion. If you are bulking, it’s from your diet–not the weights.

3. Increase Your Cardio – The other think you can do to ensure you don’t bulk is to assist your metabolism by doing cardio. Cardio for weight loss is best done 1st thing in the morning on an empty stomach. Amino acids are recommended so you won’t feel hungry, and they actually improve your muscle tone (and prevent breakdown).

In summary, bulking only occurs when you are taking in more calories than you are burning. If you watch your diet and do cardio, you will avoid bulking, and instead tone and firm your body!

Be your best–live your dream,

Hey gang,

Whats up?

I have to admit, after all the hard work and dieting for the Texas Fit Model show, I was ready to celebrate…and celebrate we did this past weekend!

This brought an interesting question to mind:

What are the healthiest alcoholic beverages?

I mean, we all have days and situations when drinks are offered, or we just want to party–so what ARE the best choices for the fitness conscious person?

1. Sangria

Sangria has an excellent range of vitamins and minerals. Including Vitamins A, C and B6, Thiamin, Riboflavin, Niacin, Folate, Pantothenic Acid, Manganese, Copper, Calcium, Iron, Magnesium, Phosphorus, Potassium, Zinc, Some dietary fiber and protein. If you are making your own batch, be wary of adding much sugar or other sugary sweeteners as it already contains a ton!!

2. Vodka (or other clear, hard stuff) + Diet Soda (or on the rocks)

While in a previous post, we talked about the evils of diet soda, if you are out about town and are drinking, getting a diet coke instead of a regular coke would be a great option. You could also drink vodka on the rocks. Good luck with that.

3. Light beer

So now I’m beginning to sound like Mr. Obvious, but order light beer instead of the calorie packed original variety. Yes, the light beer may taste watery, but your belly will thank you later.

4. Red Wine

While somewhat covered by Sangria (it contains red wine most of the time), red wine has been shown to reduce the risk for heart disease–just keep it under 2 glasses a day.

I hope your past weekend was as fun as mine — remember, live your dream and be your best…now–who’s ready to party?
