A lot of people ask me how to lose their love handles
or the last bit of fat around his or her waist.
The truth is, this is very common and it may take more than your
exercise program to get top results.
Belly fat and love handles can be the result of STRESS. When your
body is in a stressful state, it releases a hormone called cortisol.
Studies have been done that link high cortisol levels and abdominal
fat.
Stress can also lead to overeating which is the main cause of fat gain.
So how can you reduce stress in your life?
Things that can cause stress are:
-lack of quality sleep
-job pressures
-fights with your spouse
-being caught in a traffic jam
-procrastination
If you aren’t drinking green tea, you are missing out on SEVERAL
awesome health benefits.
From Wiki (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Green_tea):
Over the last few decades green tea has begun to be subjected to
many scientific and medical studies to determine the extent of its
long-purported health benefits, with some evidence suggesting
regular green tea drinkers may have lower chances of heart disease
and developing certain types of cancer!
The more research I do on the green tea, the more great things I
hear and read…and unlike coffee, where a lot of people are torn
on whether it is OK to consume or not, green tea continually gets
thumbs up.
Unless you have an extreme sensitivity to caffeine (green tea has
about a quarter the caffeine as a cup of coffee), then I would
recommend it, especially if you are looking to drop some body fat.
Here are more benefits of green tea:
-Antioxidant
-Raises metabolism
-Improves mental function
-Reduces stress
-Aides in fat loss
-Reduces muscle soreness
-Reduces Heart/Cardiovascular disease
-Aides in cancer prevention
I wanted to remind you of 3 super easy tips can
take very little to no effort and can yield big
results!
1. Follow the ‘No White Diet’
Pay attention tothe breads and grains that you consume. Make sure
when you order food to order ‘whole wheat’ instead of simple white.
Do this when you eat sandwiches and burritos. Never eat white rice
unless you are trying to gain weight.
2. Avoiding high sugar food and beverages
Read the labels before you buy a soda or energy drink.
Keep the sugar under 15 grams per meal/beverage. I’ve had several
clients who quickly dropped 3-5 lbs by eliminating soda from their
diet and replacing it with water or green tea.
Warning: Pay attention to serving size…a lot of energy drinks
have 2 servings per container…so if the label says 25g of sugar,
it is likely there is 50g total!!
3. Cutting Starchy Carbs at Night
Another super easy trick is to cut your starchy carbs at night…
this means breads, pastas, and rice. A good example of a great
dinner time meal would be grilled chicken and spinach salad topped
with balsamic vinaigrette.
This is a reminder about the free boot camp this Sunday, October 18th at 2pm. Camp will last approximately an hour and will be held at Shipe Park. Segments will be filmed for YouTube style videos, so be on the look out!
The free camp is for previous, present, and potential future boot campers. Friends and family are welcome as we celebrate good health together!
Tell you friends and lets have a good time this Sunday!
Here are 3 questions to ask when eating out or ordering take out to
help you stay healthy:
1. What is the primary ingredient? You want to have a good protein
source like chicken, eggs, lean beef. Make sure the meal isn’t
composed of just carbs and fats (like fettuccine alfredo).
This goes straight to your belly, hips, and butt! Avoid it!
2. How is the meal cooked? Avoid foods that are fried and that have
excessively creamy sauces (think chicken fried steak with white
gravy)
I realize that description and pic may have made you hungry. My apologies.
Eat this and kiss the skinny jeans goodbye!
3. What is the serving size? A lot of take out meals will be more
than you need. Your serving sizes should never be bigger than your
fists.
Want to fit into those skinny jeans fast? Here are 3 tips to get you there quick:
1. Replace the starchy carbs with greens. Start substituting the bread and pasta for greens like broccoli, spinach, or a house salad with balsamic vinaigrette.
2. Reduce intake of High Sodium and Processed Foods. Avoid the inner isles at the grocery store. If its in a box or bag (think potato chips), keep it at bay. Snack on healthy whole foods like almonds and fruits.
Avoid processed foods like chips:
3. Get your interval cardio and resistance training. Get your boot camp workout or hit the gym and make sure to push your intensity for best results!
